Our Ethos

Mavros Safaris is an African specialist safari operator with a particular passion for Zimbabwe. It was launched in 2016 by the family behind the African luxury brand Patrick Mavros and represents the culmination of all the knowledge they have gained over five generations living on the continent. Mavros Safaris welcomes guests as they would a new family member, with open hearts and minds. It is a small company with big ideas.

They aim to deliver the ultimate African safari tailored to specific requests and needs by listening carefully and offering expert advice based on their own experience. It was only in November 1855 that he set off down the Zambezi River to find for himself 'The Smoke That Thunders' – Mosi oa Tunya 💦 He travelled down the Zambezi River on foot and spent the night on Kalai Island a few kilometres upstream of the Falls. The next morning he set off in a dug out canoe guided by the locals who knew the river well. As they approached the falls they could see the columns of spray appearing in the sky and could hear the roar of the waterfall. This indeed appeared exactly like smoke rising from the ground." - 💬 Victoria Falls Guide.
